A BEAUTY MISTAKE YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU WERE MAKING

What is your sleeping position? If the answer is sleeping on your side or stomach, than you’re in trouble! But don’t worry, you can fix it very easily.

What am I talking about? Well, I always sleep on my side or stomach but as I was browsing Pinterest yesterday, I stumbled upon some disturbing pictures.

What you think you look like when you’re sleeping:

What you actually look like when you’re sleeping:

I have been sleeping on my side and stomach my entire life, but the fact is: sleeping on your side or stomach can cause wrinkles and nobody wants those!

Here is an example of what sleeping on your side can cause:

But which sleeping position is the best one? Sleeping on your back! It keeps your spine and neck in a natural position which prevents neck and back pain, it minimizes wrinkles and maintains perky breasts.

I have been trying to sleep on my back for a few nights now, but I have to say it’s quite hard. I am so used to my other sleeping positions so it’s hard to adjust. I catch myself rolling over to my side in the middle of the night and then I force myself to lay on my back but it just isn’t as comfy. I’ve done some research and I’ve found some tips which could make sleeping on my back a bit easier:

1. Place a pillow under your knees.

2. Place some pillows under your arms to keep you in that position.

3. Use the correct pillow for your neck.

4. Make sure you have a firm mattress.

Only 14% of all people sleep on their back, so if you are one of them you’re very lucky! I am certainly going to use these tips and hopefully they’ll help me. If you’re like me and you love sleeping on your stomach or side, we can do this together! I’m sure it’s going to be a struggle the first couple of days, but we’ll adjust if we keep trying.

Ofcourse, there are a few exceptions concerning sleeping positions, so here’s an overview:

Back position

  • Good: prevents neck and back pain, skin aging, saggy breasts and reduces acid reflux
  • Bad: causes snoring

Side position

  • Good: prevents neck and back pain, reduces acid reflux and eases sleeping during pregnancy
  • Bad: causes skin aging and saggy breasts

Stomach position

  • Good: eases snoring
  • Bad: causes neck and back pain, wrinkles and saggy breasts

I hope I have opened your eyes a bit with this blogpost. Most people didn’t know these things (including me) so I thought it would benefit everyone by sharing it. We only have one body so it is our job to take care of it.

Even if you decide to keep sleeping on your side or stomach, I hope you found this blogpost interesting and you’ve learned something new 🙂

Thank you for stopping by and until next time,

  1. Great post! I tried to get in the habbit of sleeping on my back a while ago. It’s pretty difficult and I still find myself switching to my side sometimes.
One tip though while you’re trying to adjust. Use a silk pillow case. It won’t tug at your skin the way cotton will so it will stretch your skin less and cause less wrinkles.

Great post though! I’m glad you made this 🙂
