DIY: AMAZING CAMERA EFFECT FOR THE PERFECT TUMBLR PICTURE

Hi everyone!

Today, I’ll be showing you a simple trick that will take your photos to the next level! I’ve seen a million pictures like this on Tumblr, but I always thought they were photoshopped. Turns out you can make it in only 5 minutes using paper and some scissors!

Learn how to do this yourself by reading this blogpost:

1

Start off by tracing your camera lens to create the perfect circle. I used cardboard, because it’s important that the material isn’t see-though. If you don’t have any cardboard, you can also use black paper.

Once you’ve done that, draw three ‘extensions’. They don’t have to be perfect or symmetric, since we’ll only be using them to secure the circle to our lens.

Take some scissors and start cutting it out.

I decided to draw a heart, but you can choose whatever shape you prefer. You could draw a star, a triangle, a letter etc. Once you’ve drawn the shape of your choice, it’s time to grab some scissors and cut it out. This can be a bit tricky, but you can always start over!

Put it over your lens and use an elastic band to secure it.

If you would start taking pictures now, you’ll end up with this:

Not exactly the image we were going for, right? That’s because you still have to adjust the camera settings.

These are the settings:

You have to set your camera to MF (Manual Focus).

Spin the wheel until AV is selected.

Set F. to the lowest number.

F3.5 is the lowest number in my case. This depends on what camera you have.

Now that the settings are all set up, there are only a three things left to do:

1. Make sure it’s dark. You can turn off the lights, close the curtains of wait until it’s evening.

2. Stand or sit faaaaaaar away from the object you want to photograph.

3. Use fairy lights or candles to get the best effect.
